Our Story
The story of Truffle Savoury began with the founders' truffle hunting experience in the Istranca Mountains of Western Turkey. As owners of a truffle dog, they embarked on truffle hunting and quickly transformed their deep passion for nature and love for truffle mushrooms into a business. Establishing a wide network of truffle hunters, Truffle Savoury was founded in the Tekirdağ province of Turkey.
The combination of hands-on experience and academic research yielded results in Research and Development, allowing Truffle Savoury to create a longer shelf life for washed truffle mushrooms stored under hygienic conditions without compromising on aroma.
In its commitment to sustainability, Truffle Savoury has adopted a zero-waste policy to support a sustainable world and future generations in the truffle mushroom industry. Within the concept of sustainability, waste parts of truffle mushrooms always return to the soil, supporting both the climate and hazelnut farmers in Turkey through inoculation efforts and projects.
Truffle Mushroom Adventure in Turkey
Despite the ancient roots of truffle culture, truffles were not known in Turkey until 2002. Academic studies to determine the Tuber species of truffles in Turkey began in 2004, with truffle hunting officially commencing in 2014. Sixty-seven truffle species belonging to 23 types have been recorded in Turkey. However, 12 species belonging to the Tuber taxon, known as "True Truffles," have been proven to grow naturally in Turkey, sharing the same genetics as European truffles. Therefore, Tuber melanosporum, Tuber macrosporum, Tuber mesentericum, Tuber uncinatum, Tuber brumale, Tuber albidum pico, and Tuber aestivum naturally thrive in Turkey. Considering the presence of various species, it is believed that Tuber magnatum also grows in these fertile soils, although it has not been officially recorded yet.
Approximately 200 certified truffle hunters and trained truffle dogs are present in Turkey. Given Turkey's vast and pristine lands, this number is relatively small. Truffle hunters often travel from city to city in groups, as truffles grow in different regions of Turkey at different times of the year. Turkey's extraordinary geographical location, with various climate conditions in different regions and varying altitudes, allows the anticipation and early procurement of truffles before the expected season starts, leading to longer truffle seasons and a continuous supply for each type.
Nestled in Turkey's stunning natural beauty, Truffle Savoury takes advantage of a constant truffle reserve with different species throughout the four seasons, providing high-quality truffles.

Truffle hunting is a unique experience. Being in the forest with your furry companion, following the scent of truffles, is both relaxing and thrilling. Describing the feeling of holding a truffle while it's still alive is beyond metaphorical; it's something you can only understand by experiencing it.
Turkey is a fantastic country to live this experience, with its enchanting natural beauty. Truffle Savoury organizes truffle hunting tours in the Istranca Mountains and Istanbul, led by professional truffle hunters and specially trained truffle dogs. Additionally, special tours are arranged for guests in different regions of Turkey. Each tour offers a unique experience, much like the truffle itself.
